Document Summary

Oxygen flows into our lungs through transfer of blood. Alveoli is where the diffusion of oxygen and carbon dioxide happens. We are looking specifically at an alveolus and what is really happening during this gas exchange system. Oxygen is an electron receptor that we need for the production of. Glucose + o2 --> co2 + h2o + atp. We also need to get rid of carbon dioxide because co2 and water is a bad mix. True or false: when co2 reacts with water, the ph of the water increases (e. g. , ph goes from 7 to 8) Co2 makes water more acidic and we are mostly made up of water. So if most of us is becoming more acidic that could throw a bunch of things out of whack (blood ph being one major one) We need to remove co2 because co2 in blood generates h+ Co2 + h2o h2co3 hco3- + h+
