Theme: keeping the alabama gulf coast clean is the only way to ensure that native species and their ecosystem continue to thrive for future generations to enjoy. My name is katy, and i am a biosystems engineering major from gulf. Today, i would like to share with y"all something that hits close to home for me literally. The gulf coast is home to some of the most pristine beaches in the world! This, in part, is because of the efforts of local beach communities like my hometown to keep our beaches beautiful. Gulf shores, orange beach, and our surrounding area saw 6. 1 million visitors in 2015, and that number is only going up. These visitors are known for bringing a lot of something to our state. Yes, these tourists bring in revenue, but they bring in even more trash! Think about a time when you"ve been to any body of water on vacation.
