Document Summary
One answer of what or how one should lead their lives came from a man named. He created and developed jainism a branch of buddhism. The rst thing he did was rede ne karma . He said that is was a matter that was encrusted around the soul and the worse you did the more matter would build up on your soul. He spoke about how important it was to chisel away this encrustation. There were two ways of doing this, through asceticism and non-injury. The good jain practiced vegetarianism, would strain their water before they drank it, swept the path they walked on so they wouldn"t accidentally kill something. The ultimate act of jainism would be to starve themselves which wasn"t common but was indeed the ultimate act . Jains would never become the majority in india, always sticking as a minority but still existing today. He holds a long and proud history of non-violence.
