KINE 3620 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Calcium Carbonate, Periosteum, Human Leg
Document Summary
Kinesiology- study of motion: typically used utilized as am umbrella term to describe, anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, sports medicine, pedagogy, commonly used to identify human movement. Biomechanics- application of mechanical principles to the study of biological systems. Why is this position so important for describing motion? force, auburn hop for softball: anatomical position. Movement and its classification: movement is the alteration of an objects position and/or posture, with respect to time or a point. Inferior- a position lower in the vertical direction. Ankle: dorsiflexion: flexion or the bending motion that occurs at the ankle, plantarflexion: extension or the separating motion that occurs the ankle. Inversion: lifting of medial border of foot: eversion: lifting of lateral border of foot. Wrist: radial flexion (deviation): movement of the wrist toward the thumb, ulnar flexion (deviation): movement of the wrist toward the little finger. Lumbar: left lateral flexion: bending or leaning toward the left side, right lateral flexion: bending or leaning toward the right side.
