Senior housing 10/2/17: aging in place, not moving, or successfully aging in place takes a lot of planning. In a 62+ community, all residents must meet the age requirement: congregate senior housing, updated versions of traditional resential hotels and boarding houses, about 75% of residents are women. It can be likened to congregate living for residents less able to function independently in all aspects of their daily lives. It provides a homelike setting with supervision and care for 4- It may include medical, counseling, and social services. Independence and autonomy vs safety and security: natural aging process results in changes in, vision, hearing, touch, taste, smell, compensating for sensory changes. Improve visual contrast: reduce glare, compensate fro decreased hearing, aesthetics, eliminate hazards, socialization. Install railing: slip resistant surfaces, automatic shut off devices, easy access to appliance controls, large dials, monitor common areas on a regular basis to make sure they, promoting social interaction are safe, environment shouldn"t be too large.
