They love unearthing good stories, especially ones that haven"t been told yet. There are a lagging status of women in the profession of journalism. Only 24% of news subjects, or people in the news, are women. But now, with today"s technology, it"s possible to remove women from the picture completely. For example, think of the picture of president obama tracking the killing of osama bin laden. You can only see hillary clinton on the right, the only women. Well, in an orthodox jewish newspaper based in brooklyn, they showed the photo with hillary completely gone from the photo. The paper apologized, but said it never runs photos of women because they might be sexually provocative. This is an extreme case, but the fact is, women are only 19% of the sources in stories on politics, and only 20% on stories on the economy.
