It could help us get a job we want in an organization initially, and when hired, it can help: Impression management (im) is when people try to control other people"s formed impressions of them. Low self-monitors present consistent images with themselves that reflect their true personality, no matter the positive or negative effects. In contrast, high self-monitors can read situations well and mold their behavior and appearance to fit the situation they are in. If you want to control other people"s impressions, you can use several impression management techniques. When people engage in impression management, they send a false idea that could be true if the circumstances were different. Excuses could be given in a sincere way, for example.
