When you have something that other people want, you are in control. This is because you can make that person dependent on you, therefore causing you to gain power over them. But, if you have something that is plentiful already, having it won"t bring you more power. This means, the more you expand your options, the less power you put in other people"s hands. This is the explanation as to why many organizations create and have multiple suppliers instead of only giving one supplier their business. This also explains why so many people want to become financially independent.
