Case study evidence can come from multiple sources. Some examples are: archival records, interviews, direct observation, participant-observation, and physical artifacts. You can find some guidance in books that are devoted to data collection. Fieldwork or field research is usually in the title of these books and they are not oriented toward something specific. They offer useful guidance on the logistics of planning and conducting field work. They are very easy to use, which makes them a valuable resource tool. These books appear to be diminishing because of the old publication dates. Contemporary books are more available but only cover limited types of evidence or specialize in one thing. Books that appear to be comprehensive methodological texts also may cover topics in addition to data collection. This means that only some of it is devoted to data collection procedures. You need to continuously address the design challenges in your work. This involves construct validity, internal validity, and reliability.
