Roe v. wade = originally about the point of viability. Religions are most concerned with when life begins. Judaism started at saying until the baby comes out of the womb, it"s not a person. Orthodox jews believe that any abortion is evil. Meilander talks about grounds for an elective abortion. Once a being has a soul, you can"t have an abortion. Theological claim: the difference between 7-17 weeks is the stage of development. Islamic believe that the earlier you have an abortion, the less you could be charged with murder. This article claims that people shouldn"t be worried about abortions. Exceptions to allow abortions: not being able to care for the baby, if the child won"t be normal. In terms of abortion you shouldn"t have one according to gm. There"s greater room for abortion rather than what religious groups allow. Meilaender states that if we hold fetuses as qualifiers for this personhood argument they also include the elderly.
