Chapter 8: women and religion: religious fundamentalism, it is primarily the fundamentalist and conservative strains of the world"s religions that most vociferously promote traditional roles for women and attempt to limit women"s rights. Female holy people remain rare or nonexistent even today. Some name not be permitted to have access to specific texts, attend ceremonies, or have access to theological education. In doing so, women are theologically illiterate and not qualified for higher positions.
