Neutrino"s go from the core to the surface of the sun in just over 8 minutes. Carbon protons are converted to helium- process is much faster and needs higher temperature. Temperature increases from the right to left on the x-axis. Luminosity increases from the bottom, upwards on the y-axis. When stars move off the main sequence and become red giants, their radii become much bigger (increases by the square but the temperature stays the same) Lower mass stars are to the right, burns h and then moves upwards before becoming a white dwarf eventually. The further something is, the fainter it is.
