Used as the only bible by jewish people, no mention of jesus christ. Torah- rescued by the hebrews from egypt, earliest history of human race, lots of law. Writings - grab bag of philosophy, history, story , poems. For believers, the bible is a form of revelation. Literally means a revealing that leads into a new understanding. Revelation is both a book and an idea, and specific examples happen in the book. God can reveal many different things in different ways. Revelations: last book of christ bible, metaphors for end of the world. God reveals things human beings would otherwise not know. Different pieces coming together, god oversees the entire process of writing everything.
