Document Summary

Shows the relationship among the three rock types. Demonstrates that all earth materials must be either a rock, sediment, or magma. A description of the way rocks change their form: sediment. Two forms of igneous rocks: plutonic. Classification: based on texture and mineral composition. Porphyritic (two crystal sizes) two rates of cooling. Large white crystals and has small black crystals. Bowe(cid:374)"s reactio(cid:374) series: everything has a different melting temp. Naming igneous rocks: not necessary to learn. Characteristics: rocks form sediment, about 75% of all rock on earth, used to reco(cid:374)struct (cid:373)uch of earth"s history. Classification: classy sedimentary rocks according to their origin. Desiccation: dry it out, chemical rocks. Materials are picked up on river and have to be treated chemically: biological rocks. Heats to change it, but still solid form: high-grade. Just on the threshold of melting: contact or thermal metamorphism, regional metamorphism, metamorphism. Changes recrystallization by changing concentration: textures.
