ME 3320 Lecture Notes - Lecture 52: Collision Detection, Exploded-View Drawing
Document Summary
If you want to see how an assembly will behave in real life, you can use physical dynamics to see the interaction between components. Move components (from assembly toolbar), and choose physical. Can do analysis for the whole assembly or for certain components chosen. It stops as shown when making contact with a bolt. Collision detection is a valuable tool for detecting design errors in assemblies that have moving parts. Go to move component under assembly toolbar. Can specify if you want the part to stop when it faces collision. Physical dynamics does have its limitations since it only takes into account the geometry of the model. It doesn"t take into account momentum, friction, or elasticity. Can explode using translational as well as radially. (regular step vs. Auto-space components controls the spacing of the parts. Can specify exact spacing for exploding parts a well. Completed explosion can be viewed under configuration tab.
