Document Summary

Motor system 5: control of eye movements: cortico-bulbar fibers leave places to brain stem, will act sort of like umn to synapse on cranial nerve nuclei that contain lmn that go to the eye. Rostral - vertical eye movement: purpose of eye movements is to, maintain a visual target on the fovea. Foveation: to allow a lot of detail for that image, compensate for head rotation and retinal slip. Retinal image stabilization: because the head or the world is moving, maintain singleness of vison. Diplopia ( double vision) results when normal eye movements are disrupted: aid visual perception. Because image form retina disappears so the movements allows us to continue to focus and get detailed information from our world: types of eye movement, passive constant eye movements, foveation- rapid and sometimes ballistic and not always large. Saccade: brings new objects of interest to fovea.
