Document Summary

Primary care and prevention: health, who defines it as. Is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity: sick. Having something that negatively affects the above: not sick. Or not healthy: most common practice in hospitals and mental health care, healthy. Our current systems focus very little attention about moving people to this: prevention, primary. Preventing disease from ever happening: good nutrition, not smoking and reducing stress. Currently gathering a lot more data to see if this works because it is more cost effective. Behavioral medicine is more familiar with this thus it is best to have them apart of the primary care team because pcp are not trained with this: secondary. Early detection to prevent progression: mammography, depression screening and psa test. In primary care focusing on mental health or depression: give assessment to determine risk factors for certain mental illnesses.
