So, it can be an escape or a reinforcement of social norms. Tuesday, 31 january 2017: comedy derived from situation, may include farce or exaggerated physical action. Comedy of character: driven by the eccentricities of a major character. Comedy of ideas: i. e. stand up, focused on thought (like aristotle"s thought, can be philosophical, political or controversial. Comedy of manners: major character or characters at odds with social expectations (making fun of specific types of people, politically incorrect . Romantic comedy: seeks sympathy of well-being in the end. May have serious action but happy ending or mixed tone throughout.
