Demedicalize and decriminalize ginger"s and kahtia"s stories. A way of focusing on problems (often health problems) through the lens of an individual"s malady and its fix. Focusing on social problems primarily through the lens of assigning criminality to certain groups ( (cid:1445)criminals(cid:1446)) Focus on the individual in a way that eclipses structural analysis. Counteract the myth that ginger"s problems originate in her psychological frailty. Trans woman; statutory rape at age 14. Discriminated against by law enforcement; assaulted in prison. Counteract the myth that kahtia"s problems stem from her being an unfit mother. Our struggles are very different, as we have come from different backgrounds and have had quite different experiences in life.
