Document Summary

Chemical reacions are the result of collisions between reacing molecules that lead to the transformaion of the reactants into products. The rate of product formaion depends on the frequency of collisions and their efeciveness. There are more collisions when the concentraion of reactants is large (number of molecules per volume). The collisions are more efecive when the energy of collisions is greater (at higher temperature). The efeciveness of collisions also depends on the orientaion of the two reacing molecules when they collide. The following quesions are intended to help you learn more from the lecture before you begin to study: what chemical reacion took place in the inal step of the water to fruit punch to. Strawberry milk to ginger ale demonstraion: during class, we conducted a thought experiment with a cartoon animaion of blue and yellow dots reacing to produce green dots. Predict the reacion rate if the number of blue and yellow dots were each increased to four.
