But if the fruit of eur culture is millions dead in trenches, culture doesn"t do what we want it to (transmit self across time thru bodies, preserving knowledge + good rel to ea/ other) Prufrock: chose to flee out of body to unreal space of archive (depopulated city + ocean), b/c he hates how the urban makes us see ea/ other as more part than person. Now shaken by entire cultural edifice that he was trying to flee the city into.
