Liberal arts and humanities have generally been for the production of subjects familiar with history of society and situated in traditions. Cultural studies has always been a place for academic progressivism where feminists, marxists, theorists of popular culture, race, and sexuality. Academic left, ever since the eighties, has resulted in an abandonment of marxism and the development of a post-marxist cultural materialism.
