Violence not just in south side of chicago. Young people are murdered, but no one shows up to cover, photograph or talk about what had happened. When it comes to crime, they claim that people in the neighborhood don"t care, but that"s untrue. Quick to name black on black crime and not so with white on white crime. Stated in philadelphia to compare with experiences in chicago: book title is inspired by graffiti on the wall in one of the pictures, did not get access to jails in public institutions, 4 attorneys shadowing consistently, monitoring them. Painting inside prison depicts huge mountains in between young people playing in a basketball court and the inner city even though chicago is flat the isolation and distance. Isolating kids as young as 16 in their own homes, probation officers check them out. Overexposed pictures to make it look like silhouettes because could not identify the faces.
