GEOG 70AC Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: White Supremacy, Racialization
Document Summary
Through benjamin lloyd"s description of a night stroll through chinatown, harsh criticisms about race are presented. Such despicable descriptors are crucial for understanding the role in which race plays in the growth of the urban city. In addition, lloyd"s harsh points help to shed light on the various ways in how race is connected to the broader geographical history of economic and political progress and the processes in which this progress was enabled or halted. The most interesting part of the reading was how lloyd depicted race and what de nes race. This aspect of his writing intrigued me the most because of the harsh adjectives he used to show how race is a constant aspect of political and social history. It isn"t necessarily a biological , but a social construction which is constructed in terms of social imagination.
