This civilizing process had already begun (sunglasses, tv) Remind viewers of their position of global consumers of exotic culture. This makes us think about the personal identity of the artist to place the artist in a world, in a social group. They"re invested in ways to appropriate mass media/history and maybe move forward. Implying that idea of global culture may be promising but may flatten difference. Stereotypical symbols: animal prints, headdress (generalized pieces of exoticism)
