The correlation between mind and body results from the fact that they are the same: god has the attributes of thought and extension, as well as infinite other attributes. Ideas are modes of thought, so god has ideas of everything. Just as a lectern is caused by a carpenter, wood, nails, saws, etc. , God"s idea of a lectern is caused by ideas of the carpenter, wood, etc. Scholium prop 7: a mode of extension and the idea of the mode are the same thing, considered under different attributes. So god"s idea of the lectern is the lectern, considered under the attribute of thought: the human mind is an idea in god"s mind. So, in addition to spinoza"s body being god"s idea of spinoza"s body, Spinoza"s mind = god"s idea of spinoza"s mind.
