Document Summary

Intelligence the ability to solve problems and adapt and learn from the environment. There are often many definitions of intelligence- not necessarily how much information you can accumulate, but how quickly you can process and solve problem. But doesn"t account for social situations and social sense. Another type of debate: types of intelligence: spearman"s psychometric approach wanted to see if we could find discrete types of intelligence within people or to find one underlying thing. Even though there ewre individual differences in intelligence tests, there seemed to be a theme. There was a norm to everyone"s performance mostly. Maybe that was indicative of what we call intelligence underlying general ability to do well or poorly g factor. Tried to look for what caused this g factor biological, childhood experience. Could be the result of outside factors (e. g. health, childhood factors) Big emphasis on the impact of childhood experiences when brain is malleable: sternberg"s triarchic theory of intelligence disagreed with spearman.
