Document Summary

If either death is bad in itself or deprives that person of something valuable then death is evil or a bad thing. Death is bad because of what it deprives us of. Death is bad because it deprives us of life which is a bad thing. Death is a state of being dead which is not a bad thing. Death is not something that can accumulate over time. Temporary suspension of life is not a misfortune. If you are frozen and you still have cnicus ability then they should not be pitied. None of us existed before we were born, which is not a bad thing: not a misfortune that we were not born. The bare experience of life itself in valuable in itself. Living a longer conscious life is more valuable than a shorter one. Death is an evil because of what it deprives us of. This evil is not a matter of merely experiencing displeasure.
