Quadrupeds have flat and only constraint on birth is width of pelvic opening. Humans have 3d bowl shape due to bipedalism. Babies born at an earlier stage of maturity and helpless. Lithotomy position- flat on back and feet raised. Lying down -> labor not progressing -> pitocin -> increase pain -> epidural -> fetal distress -> emergency c-section.
