Document Summary

3 parts of the cell theory: all living things are made of cells, all cells carry out life processes, all cells come from other cells. Each needs full dna blueprint: cytokinesis. There is no fertilization of an egg by a sperm. Some multicellular organisms can grow new individuals from fragmented pieces. Ex: growing a new plant from a clipping. Stem runs along ground and forms new plant. In asexual reproduction, the lone parent and its offspring have identical genes. Mitosis is the type of cell division responsible for: Sexual reproduction requires fertilization of an egg by a sperm using a special type of cell division called meiosis. Chromatin is thin, usable form of dna in nucleus. Chromosomes are condensed, think form of dna. Contain information for same biological features as the loci. One comes from mom and one comes from dad. Human cell has 46 chromosomes (duplication is 92 chromosomes) Division is two cells with 46 chromosomes (daughter cells)
