Have found eggs but information on sexual reproduction is unknown. Poriferans in development only progress to the blastula stage. 2 main body shapes-inverted forms of each other. One end by the mouth surrounded by tentacles- oral end. Other aboral end or base attaches to substrate. Can make a colony by budding off my polyps. This allows some polyps to specialize-polymorphism of polyps. 3 layers- outer ectoderm, inner endoderm, and an acelluar mesoglea layer. The body is flatted into a bell shape. The mouth is on the concave-subumbrella side, and may hang below the bell. Tentacles hang on the edge of the bell. Glands, sensory, nerve, and epitheliomuscular (for movement) cells. Middle acellular mesogloa contains processes of both epidermal and gastrodermal cells. Contains a coiled tubular filament or threat which is a continuation of the capsule. Cap or lid at the end that holds it shut.
