ENVI 101 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Cyanobacteria, Gymnosperm, Xylem
Document Summary
If something is moving, it is said to have kinetic energy. Electrons are moving (the flow of electrons) Buildup of free electrons in the cloud- outburst of energy. The atoms in all matter are constantly moving. The frequency or degree of movement is what determines the heat. Theres heat energy in all matter (whether it is hot or cold) Incredibly important for life bc of light energy. Moves in the form of waves- we can see some but not others. When wavelength is short, there tends to be high energy. Plants and photosynthesis-converting light energy into chemical energy. Water being held in by a dam, holding a ball in your hand. Nonrenewable: can be depleted and are not replenished by natural processes within a human time scale. 80% of our commercial energy is coming from nonrenewable sources. High quality: concentrated energy that has high capacity to do useful work. Concentrated sunlight, burning of fossil fuels, nuclear energy.
