Study people born at the same year, same age, will have 5 yr old will also have 10, 15, 20, study each group as their own group. Compare different developmental stones that each group is experiencing at the same time, comparing different age groups at the same time. Good: quick, inexpensive, can see differences in behavior in development @ different ages at the same time. Bad: every person is different, won"t have info about the developmental process, no info about individual development and no past determinants (how they were influenced during development and how they became) of age related changes. Iq and age graph, in the study"s case it"s correlation doesn"t = causation. Studying same group of ppl over a course of a lifetime or 20 yrs, can see the changes in behavior, that what experiences you"ve been through have influenced your development.
