Smallpox epidemics sweep northeast north america in 1630s in the ohio river valley. Coincide with advent of large- scale fur trade. Increases competition for trade for survival and war to increase population. New cycle of wars hurons & algonquian vs haudenosaunee (iroquois) Attract attention of the french, allies of hurons and algonquins, as they expand their territory and press on other groups. French were the great father above the indian tribes. French were able to force peace against the haudenosaunee. Wars of three kingdoms (1639-1660) - aka english civil wars. Struggle of power between parliament (legislative power) vs monarchy (the crown) For the control of the realm (kingdoms of scotland, england, ireland) The monarchy was controlled by the church of england. Beheads king charles i (the monarch) in 1659.
