As an avid watcher of telenovelas such as la reina del sur and mar a la del. Barrio as well as tv shows such as caso cerrado or any f tbol game that happened to be playing whenever i went over to my abuela"s house, i have always embraced my culture. When i was younger, i never really felt as if what i did or what i watched made me latino. To me, it was simply what was normal. It wasn"t until i got older that i realized how i feel isolated in my culture each day. I would still chow down on arroz con. It came to a point where my interests were slowly shifting to the dominant culture. Instead of the salsa, bachata and merengue tunes that filled my south american family with joy, i turned to rock and bubblegum pop.
