Recitative: sung speech, fluctuation if the text, words are important, moves the plot. Chorus: represents people commenting on the action; expression of the masses. Sonata: usually 3-4 movements for a solo instrument. In the classical era, it consisted of 2 violins, a viola, and a cello. Symphonies are named by key center, a number, and a nickname.
