PSYC 111 Lecture Notes - Lecture 12: Classical Conditioning, Operant Conditioning Chamber, Reinforcement Learning
Document Summary
Unconditioned response response to stimulus that is natural. Originally a neutral stimulus that was paired with an unconditioned stimulus that now produced a previously unconditioned response. Conditioned response the response that is now elicited by what was previously a neutral stimulus, now known as a conditioned stimulus. Gets used to it, the conditioned stimulus no longer produces the conditioned response. Spontaneous recovery the stimulus is not present for some time, but when it comes back, the conditioned response is active again. Went on to become modern behaviorism"s most influential and controversial figures. Elaborated on thorndike"s law of effect, which states that rewarded behavior is likely to recur. Explored the principles and conditions of learning operant conditioning. Concept: behavior operates on the environment to produce rewarding or punishing stimuli. Ex: you eat your vegetables, you get rewarded with dessert this increases the chance of eating vegetables. Ex: you steal a cookie from the cookie jar and get smacked.
