Different political responses to inequalities in income and wealth late. 19th/early 20th centuries vs. late 20th/early 21st century: massive strikes in late 19th/ early 20th centuries. Ludlow massacre- colorado national guard killed miners that were in fields after they were evicted from housing. Miners killed 4 guards, very violent confrontation between workers and companies, corporations, big capitalists from. Workers are confronted by private armies of companies, national guard, or state militias: politicians. Roosevelt-economic loyalists, pilagers, campaigning on behalf of the workers. No longer about taxing the rich but cutting welfare benefits.
