Synapse between neuron and muscle cell is called the neuromuscular junction (nmj) @ the nmj. the neuron releases a chemical onto the plasma membrane on the muscle cell and that begins the signal to contract. A small chemical change from electrical impulses in the nerves. Finger into an electrical socket and we supply an electrical impulse cause all the muscles to contract. The neuron is hovering above it and the chemical will diffuse onto the surface of the sarcolemma. Chemical does not have far to go and can diffuse to multiple. Chemical floats onto surface of the muscle cell. The ends of the membrane come closer together and then the bones come closer together. T tubules span the whole muscle fibers and allows the sarcoplasmic reticulum to diffuse calcium. T tubules work with the triad to spread the signal to the thick and thin filaments. Ca is needed to allow the two myofilaments to interact.
