Microevolution is survival through inheritance of favorable characteristics (mutations, gene flow, genetic drift, natural selection: seen across populations. Mutations and gene flow are sources of genetic variation (introduces new alleles into a population) Genetic drift and natural selection determine the fate of changes in allele frequencies. In the reading wonderful life, it explains luck is a factor of history of life: chance happens on a macro scale; same outcome is unlikely twice. Contingency v. determinism natural selection is predictable (determinism) and contingency explains that history of life cannot be predicted. Origin of photosynthesis is because of prokaryotes. Presence of rust only occurs through oxidation. Plants did really well on land because there weren"t any herbivores on land which causes an increase in o2. Mass extinction is caused by rapid changes in the environment. K-t extinction was 65 mya and killed the dinosaurs (but not all )
