Personae another theory argues that it"s not important that the artist expresses their emotions. Rather, the emotions are expressed by personae that the artist adopts to express those emotions in a fiction. Captures some aspects of how fiction works. Not all sorts of art use personae (ex. music) Peter kivy theorizes about cognitive recognition and how its connected with our appraisal of art: we associate music with emotions, and with cognitive recognition we get emotion out of music. There are films that are artfully made but not art films and there are films that are definitely not art. All definitions of art agree that art is an artifact that is made by humans. Functional defines art in terms of function (ex. The function of art is to express emotion, etc.
