In 1940"s, the british creation of the national health service. Aftermath of wwii, people were used to gov"t making large decisions in their lives. Medicare was more limited and cheaper than today. Post wwii, american assumed they would be getting health care from employers. We spend more on health care than other countries. Gov"t has been signing contracts with private companies instead of hiring civil servants.
