Fear is an immediate emotion, usually focused on an object. Anxiety is the feeling of worry, unease, or dread usually future oriented: anxiety may form as an alert. Can be anxiety about interacting with others. Can be more specific (ex. afraid of giving speeches, parties, performing behaviors in front of other people, etc. ) Fear of being separated, for example from a parent. Abrupt panic attack (intense fear and discomfort) with symptoms that mimic a heart attack. Risk affects include neuroticism, and anxiety sensitivity. Used to be classified as an anxiety disorder, but now it has its own category. Feelings at the core of anxiety: emotions, physical sensations. Thought: think the world is a scary place, may tend to overestimate the bad things that can happen, and underestimate their ability to handle it. Learning component learn some of this fear through modeling, for example, from a parent. Seeks to gently challenge the beliefs contributing to anxiety.
