Similarity is an important thing in relationships if you have the same education level, relationship this helps with an enduring relationship. If you live in a small town or farm you are less likely to get divorced. There is nothing that is truly 100% altruistic because people get a psychological bene t out of being altruistic. So we might end up helping someone because we then might need help ourselves. If we can get something out of it, we might decide that it is worth the cost. You are in a situation in which you could help someone: if the rewards outweigh the costs then you are likely to help. This theory does not explain this situation yet it does happen. Social norm: they in uence the likelihood of doing something for someone else.
