Born to a wealthy equestrian family in spain c. 4 b. c. Exiled by the emperor claudius for eight years, in 41: his earliest literary works talk about conditions of exile, seneca was recalled from exile and suddenly had a prominent place in court. Recalled to rome to be the tutor of his nero: she wanted her own son nero to be the next emperor after claudius, and relied on seneca to be a good teacher. Unfortunately, he was a bad student and bad person. Not interested in being a good ruler. He spent all of his time singing, going to sports events, performing them, touring greece, and he wanted to be celebrated as an artistic genius. He killed his own half-brother bottanicus, and seneca poisoned. Botta(cid:374)i(cid:272)us(cid:859) food, a(cid:374)d (cid:373)u(cid:396)de(cid:396)ed his o(cid:449)(cid:374) (cid:449)ife a(cid:374)d (cid:373)othe(cid:396) ag(cid:396)opi(cid:374)a ((cid:449)ife of claudius) who helped him become emperor.
