between several users, typically a building, if you see networks that you see when
looking for wifi
2. WAN (Wide Area Network)- connect multiple LANs, distributed ownership and
management, large physical distance, up to worldwide
Difference between WWW and the Internet? WWW uses the Internet
Difference between Internet and Google? Google is a search engine but Internet does
everything
Definitions to Remember:
World Wide Web- method for publishing and accessing content over the Internet
Web Browser- software for navigating and viewing contents on the WWW
Web Page- displayed in a browser, includes formatting and links to other web pages
URL- address used by browser to find a particular resource on the web ex) web page
Web Server- software that receives requests from browsers and sends them web pages
Web site- a collection of web pages
HTML- language used for describing content on a web page: text, images, formatting, and links
HTTP- communications standard used for transferring web pages, unencrypted web
standard/protocol
HTTS- secure
