The media that we use determines many aspects of organizational culture: the way we communicate, the kind of values we have, the particular behaviors we encourage, etc. Four functions of organizational culture: provides a sense of identity and increases commitment to the organization, tells members how to interpret org. events, reinforces the values of the organization, serves as a control mechanism within the organization. History: 1995: started by larry page & sergey brin as backrub , 2000: becomes world"s largest search engine, 2004: goes public, 2008: google chrome is introduced.
