Very severe adhd and oppositional defiant disorder. Psych thinks a lot of children develop odd from having adhd. Dad says calm and mom gets mad. Mom starts crying because he was close to the edge of parking garage. Constantly feels like she"s in a no win situation. Parents weren"t paying much attention to little brother. That is still giving bad behavior attention. Parent-child interaction therapy (talked about in a previous lecture) With children as opposed to adults, need to treat parents as patients as well. Symptoms of distress are experienced primarily internally. Behavior is upsetting to and difficult for others. Infants: genetic disorders (small percentage), autism spectrum disorders, intellectual. Disabilities, attachment disorders (kids in orphanages or homes without consistent love and care) Preschoolers: fear and anxiety disorders (separation anxiety), disruptive behavior. Disorders, enuresis and encopresis (wetting the bed and defecating in places you shouldn"t) , sleep disorders, obsessive compulsive and related disorders.
