After tsar collapses, mass politics takes place. Separates party from rest of them: all other parties trying to keep provisional gov"t in place. Told the masses what they want to here (pg. 27): the war has to be ended. Power to the people (peasants and proletariat) All other countries said had to win war b/c spend so much on it: power to the soviet, seize the land of the states. Lenin wanted new name for party ( communist part ) Worked to undermine army and build up own militia. Seize power in one city and give people what they want: two decrees (on land and on peace) A rising of the masses of the people requires no justification (first sentence) Because is the answer: don"t have to justify anything, we represent the people who matter. Bolsheviks told everyone else we"re going to rule alone: justification comes from marx and we represent the people (who matter)
