SAR SH 522 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Superior Frontal Gyrus, Inferior Parietal Lobule, Superior Parietal Lobule
Document Summary
Review: synapses is the action of 2 neurons communicating with each other. A neuron needs to be suf ciently stimulated for its axon to release nt into the synaptic cleft. The nt released will turn on the next neuron. Receptor site is the area on the postsynaptic neuron that is stimulated from the nt. Ion channels are found in the membrane of the postsynaptic neurons that allows ions to enter which causes the neuron to re (depolorizing and leading to an action potential). Action potentials are a result of a synapse. The ion exchange can happen through two different system: passion ion channel or active na/k pump. 1. the lateral sulcus (sylvian ssure) divides the temporal lobe from the frontal and anterior parietal lobes. It moves from anterior to posterior of the brain. the central sulcus (rolandic ssure) separates the frontal lobe from the parietal lobe and runs from the cerebral longitudinal ssure to the lateral sulcus.
